| Always a pleasure to walk into a theater and leave after seeing something big - something not expected. The independent Lars and the Real Girl movie "Lars and the Real Girl" is just that. It is promoted as a comedy about a guy who's in love with a sex doll, but the DivX film Lars and the Real Girl is the type everyone should see, and you can even consider taking their children. (It is rated PG-13) Lars (Ryan Gosling) is an introvert, who has an office job and lives half in the north-west of the city. His pad is a modified garage beside his deceased parents' home. His brother Gus (Paul Schneider) and pregnant sister-in-law care Karin (Emily Mortimer) live in the big house on the property. One day he met a friend Lars (wrist) on the Internet and is sent to your home. Being the gentleman he is, Lars asks Gus and Karin if your search can stay in the house until you know better. This sets in motion a chain of events involving the local doctor, the minister, his coworkers and, ultimately, the entire city. It is a history of openness and the importance of allowing the former is unacceptable, and think differently, it is completely acceptable. The Lars and the Real Girl movie is based on the initial changes of its beliefs and offers a wonderful message at a time. It is a heart, feel good Lars and the Real Girl movie that will stay with you long after you leave the theater. Lars and the Real Girl'' 'taught me more about life and love. | I just saw this Lars and the Real Girl Drama last night with my friends and I admit to never heard of him. I knew it was worth seeing when I was told that Ryan Gosling was in what was just excited to see it. The first thirty minutes of the DivX Movie Lars and the Real Girl are pretty damn funny and for some, almost hilarious. Very well done comic acting is real, credible, and even amazing to see. Part of what makes the first thirty minutes, so funny is that we know about the wrist, and can not wait for the initial reactions. After the story has a wonderfully surprising turn to a real theater light touch. I was very surprised, but I loved it. Many people laughed throughout the movie, and I was very upset about that. There's a reason this man wants a sex doll is a real person, and inside a very serious pain thats hes going through, which for me, understanding that part of the story, I felt it was somewhat inappropriate for People laugh, but eventually I understood. Near the end of the Lars and the Real Girl movie becomes a bit predictable for one, say some major plot turn, but not so predictable as to ruin it. About 5 to 10 minutes before you see it come to happen, but other than that superbly acted by Ryan Gosling, who has nothing but an incredible career in front of him, and good roles too. This is a very enjoyable movie, which I recommend to anyone and everyone. It really seems to have something for everyone, but be prepared that can make people laugh, mourn, or both. It is a very good DivX Movie Lars and the Real Girl and definitely worth seeing in theaters. |
| I just saw a screening in Los Angeles and a packed house of SAG members LOVED this movie! The performance of Ryan Gosling also hearkens back a moving and effective performance of Peter Sellers in being there, that Gosling and director Craig Gilespie was admitted on his only point of reference. Gosling is the sweet, good humor, and is extremely shy and the heart and soul of this movie. His performance as Lars (along with management of the patient and a wonderful screenplay) is the main reason that all works. I laughed all tough, but in the end I shed real tears over the plot and characters - and I thought to do it through a conversation pork was bad! This is a form of performance out of the ordinary for Gosling, and most young players today could not have pulled out. Expect an Oscar nomination for Gosling and the script. |
| This was a last minute choice. We looked up, I thought what the heck, and provides a Lars and the Real Girl movie with a doll at the Royal has to be good, right? Never in my dreams I could have imagined such a touching, poignant film, written incredibly well acted, excellent pace. I will not go into details because we need to see this movie. It is a true piece of Americana, love and a little despair. The characters are so well cast that I felt an instant connection and I was not laughing hysterically when they break. Ryan Gosling gives what I consider a winning performance and I really could see myself living in this small town beautifully accept. If only real life could imitate art. Good job. |
| I saw this Lars and the Real Girl Drama at the Toronto festival. Almost leaves me speechless. It is not a girl movie, but it's about relationships and love and understanding and compassion. I laughed. I cried. I knew a smidge on the Lars and the Real Girl film in the history of going into it ... a strange but pleasant fellow responds to a companion online. Just so happens that she (Bianca) arrives at his home in a box is a full-sized doll! I was not sure where the story would go from there. Boy, I did it in a sweet, sweet ride. I loved this Lars and the Real Girl film and everything. All the actors / characters that surround 'Lars' took their roles perfectly. It is not a criticism you can imagine. Pretty close to perfection. In response to a question after the screening Q & A, Craig Gillespie, the director, said he did not have to pitch the Lars and the Real Girl movie with Ryan Gosling. Ryan, the day after reading the script is in love with the story and said he wanted to do. Ryan Gosling gives a credible and incredible performance. Man, oh man, this guy is good. |
