Massoud Amir Behrani, an Iranian immigrant, has spent most of his savings trying to enhance his daughter's chances of a good marriage. Once she is married, he spends the remaining funds on a house at an auction, unwittingly putting himself and his family in the middle of a legal tussle with the house's former owner. What begins as a legal struggle turns into a personal confrontation, with tragic results.

Look at the first "House of Sand and Fog" no doubt is left with a real sense of hopelessness, from a small disagreement on a whole basket load of disaster and misery continues. Pending payment of a fine cast of virtual unknown, except the two drivers, Ben Kingsley is in a bit role as a former Iranian colonel who was very close to the former Shah of Iran. And is working only in their efforts to get into their new life in the United States, but its authoritarian approach to all not make him a very sympathetic figure - he is chauvinistic and dominant but very loving and compassionate - which can Kingsley offer as well in this role is a real tribute to a great performance. Ms. Connelly is also a figure not to get sympathy from most of the film, but does a good job. The DVD film House of Sand and Fog is very interesting, but not let it sit too well when it is finished.

Of all the movies I've seen Ben Kingsley is one of my most favorite movies. The principle starts very slowly and not waste time to confuse the audience. Although the House of Sand and Fog Drama moves at a pace unknown remains mentally stimulating and has a wonder what will happen next. Throughout the DVD movie House of Sand and Fog the audience is drawn to sympathize by Kathy played by Jennifer Connelly, who lost her house because they do not pay taxes for your business. When your house is taken by the county and put up for auction, Kathy found an ally in a County Sheriff's officer called Les played by Ron Eldard. Soon the two engage in a legal battle to get home again, but soon their efforts prove fruitless as the house is sold to Colonel Behrani and his family. Behrani family hopes to fix the house and are sold only four times what they bought for Behrani. The House of Sand and Fog movie grows rapidly in an intense, emotional nail biter with a very unexpected ending that leaves the viewer in a state of shock. Kinglsey is definitely more of an emotional images that leave the public with a better perspective of what happens when two very different cultures collide and find they have more in common than they are different.
