| I remember when comedy was real movies with real stories and the real fun just flowed from them, rather than just a weak excuse to string together jokes and funny scenes and stock situations? Yeah, me too. What happened? If you're in the mood for a great movie: Tootsie that you cough up for a boat of honest laughter, then it is not going to do better than TOOTSIE. You will not find a better written, acted, directed and starring anywhere. There are a lot of good - but none better. This is a career highlight for all involved, and when "all" includes names such as Sydney Pollack and Dustin Hoffman, you know that feeling you have is a significant. And only reaffirms the old saying that everyone should have the comedy Bill Murray in it. |
| It is difficult to deny that this is a fun movie, because it's fun! I'm still cracking up after all these years, every time I see it. I have seen countless times, and is still a huge clock. Dustin Hoffman plays Michael Dorsey, an unemployed actor, which does not seem to get along with any director or writer in the city. One day, he takes his friend, Sandy to participate in an audition for a soap opera. She is rejected, and because it is so desperate for work, dress like a woman, and goes to the interview itself. Was hired because of their (I mean it) attitude, and the rest of the film, now known as Dorothy Michaels. The DivX film Tootsie is hysterical, and well written. There is a moment that I saw this movie, which did not laugh or smile. It is light, but has some adult material that might not be suitable for anyone under the age of twelve years. It's nice, and really there is not much more than that. I think everyone will love, once given a chance. |
| There must be something in the water around the time of Julie Andrews TOOTSIE because he had only played a woman pretending to be a man and here we have Dustin Hoffman in the same situation and for the same reason - gainful employment. Anyway, Dustin does a credible job as Dorothy Michaels, he invented the character seems to work when all the tests are in vain. He is a man who seems to attract enemies like flies, but when Dorothy puts in its composition are attracted like moths to a flame. This makes dealing with his girlfriend Teri Garr even more difficult, not to mention the fact that love with Jessica Lange, the soap actress who tries his best friend. She has to be, otherwise all the other cast members would be able to see through the disguise. Light comedy is fun fluff that wound up getting so many nominations Oscar I lost count. Jessica Lange won for her role and the Best Dustin Hoffman, at least, won a Golden Globe for her impersonation of the title of the personality. Winning an Oscar would have been justified.
