| Well, this one hurt - my ears, my eyes, my intelligence. . . Five minutes into it, more or less seen. My husband and I, however, stick out until the end because his sister had told us we love. As a matter of fact, she said that the heart would break if not. Oh boy. We just put out to mention that he had seen as much as we could. Apparently, this Moulin Rouge! film provokes a visceral love / hate reaction from viewers, and obviously do not fall into the "love" category. I admire the idea and effort, but was numbed by the product - a triumph of editing and sound, I suppose, but all with an incredibly annoying result. Most just wanted to STOP. What amazes me is that the score has already won two big awards! I know there are some things in the original, but surely that is not what sticks in memory. I like Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman can tolerate (although "a courageous woman who unjustly return" schtick is getting old). Despite the fact that I hated, some others think that really swollen, so I'm loathe to say no see. Not only that they were not warned! |
