Beautifully filmed, the acclaimed director Hugh Hudson (Chariots of Fire) creates a story that has all the legend of John Clayton, Lord Greystoke and Tarzan of the apes to life with dignity and reverence, and with a scope not seen so far in the Tarzan movies. Christopher Lambert made his debut as a young actor, Sir, in the wild raised by a female gorilla after their parents die in Africa. Later he returned to what he is an alien world, class and privilege, is totally misplaced. Once you learn what happened to the monkeys who raised him and his world realizes that it must return. A sad story, but said in a triumphant fantastic views. This is one of those films that is a must for every Cinemaphile collection. |
Having seen many Tarzan movies in recent years, I think Greystoke, one of the best, if not the best. Is played with emotion. Christopher Lambert of the image of Tarzan has been excellent. I have never read the book of the municipality, but this adaptation should, at all, since any Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes Drama film Tarzan Johnny Weismueller or Lex Barker played in shame. I saw this Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes movie at least 5 times and see again and again. |
GREYSTOKE: THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, LORD OF THE APES (1984) *** 1 / 2 Christopher Lambert, Ian Holm, Ralph Richardson, James Fox, Andie McDowall. Incredibly made adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic tale of an orphan raised by apes in the deepest darkest jungle of northern Africa to avoid the old path of Johnny Weissmuller ( "Me Tarzan, you Jane") and instead Capture the essence of the story of the man who would be the next Earl of Greystoke estate in Scotland who can not escape the rearing primates no matter how hard place (and snobbish), society dictates what is right. an exquisitely Cinematography by John Alcott and make up artist / genius Rick Baker apes creations are truly a wonder to behold (the monkeys are more empathy I think that since "King Kong" sympathetic figure). Richardson (in his last screen role) received a Best Actor nomination sharing as the grandfather of John Clayton (Tarzan), gives a memorable performance. McDowall in his screen debut in his voice is dubbed by Glenn Close, with Hugh Hudson, director of the alleged dislike for his unmistakable southern accent anachoristic (and the rewriting of screenwriter Robert Towne script that quickly led to the elimination of its moniker Towne pseudonym for PH Vazak, which incidentally is the name of your pet Sheepdog (!)) |
.. especially Lambert. This is the Burrough Tarzan who grew up reading when I was a child. I read some negative comments about this Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes Drama movie and could not stop wondering what your point. They obviously did not see the Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes film or that I was expecting something more akin to that on Saturday afternoon serials. This was the era of Tarzan that the novel and the film: Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes should be applauded for fighting the source material and taking it seriously. Lambert was excellent. I think Hollywood is one of the lowest-rated players. This was a DVD movie Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes that shines in. Photography and apes, by Rick Baker, were both amazing. Definitely felt from the jungle. The 2nd half, Tarzan's attempt to be a civilized person who actually pulls the emotional conflict that had been forced to resolve. I recommend this movie |
After the first concept of the probable actual events in history, you'll enjoy this Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes movie more. I've seen this movie: Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes several times and still enjoy it. Although Christopher Lambert i find a mediocre player in most of his movies, I think that shines here (a good idea to let him speak in his native French accent, smart script written by the Belgian explorer believes he) instead to do so in a strange accent, and works well. Ian Holm and Ralph Richardson and movies are fantastic, but again McDowell loot and most of its scenes are irritating to see. Part of this Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes Drama movie was rather disturbing (taxidermy laboratories and the scene where the monkey / father is shot), but very well done. The scenery is fantastic, and the musical score is brilliant and stirring. Great makeup effects of its day. This DivX film Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes is worth seeing, give him a chance, you might be pleasantly surprised! |
Greystoke remains near the first Tarzan novel, which makes it a striking contrast between this and previous film: Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes Tarzan movies. "Christophe 'sticks to his French accent for most of this film, which is a relief because it focuses on their performance and, mostly, you get the point. His back to imitate the behavior in times of emotional stress is funny and touching. Ralph Richardson's potrayal of the Sixth Earl is full of subtlety and humor, only to be expected from a master of the art. Ian Holm, again, a masterful performance. Andie MacDowell are set to shame. The first half is primarily in the jungle and it is fascinating to watch. A large amount of research on monkey behavior is given the use of entertainment. This is a close when some amusingly nasty English explorers and a disdain Belgian in the jungle. The second half, when Johnny (Lambert) is introduced to Victorian society is what it means to be "civilized." He meets his grandfather and is expected to take its place in society, but then discovers what society is like. A great and entertaining DivX Movie Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes adaptation. |
