| Writer / director Andrew Niccol takes a track or two from Martin Scorsese to create that rare kind of DVD movie Lord of War in which serious issue is intertwined with a great movie-going fun to create this excellent action drama. Nicolas Cage stars as an arms dealer with a dubious, but ultimately well-articulated set of moral values. He is smart enough to realize that is nothing but a pawn in a vast, impersonal and makes the game more than their situation. In fact, the nature of the cage may be more complex than some critics and viewers will be willing (or able) to acknowledge. Cage shields nature of the business world, one dominated by greed, corruption, poverty and violence are often surprising. Perhaps the greatest achievement of the DivX film Lord of War is the fact that convinces the viewer that, despite the star of countless personal and professional setbacks and shortcomings, which not only keeps his life and sanity, but also a part of your soul. And that is a beautiful glow of hope in a sea of darkness. |
| I put this DVD film Lord of War out for quite some time and finally getting round to it, I have not seen for more than 15 minutes before falling asleep. I gave it one more try and glued to the screen all the time. I thought it was going to be this action movie: Lord of War with guns and shooting and explosions never exhausted and there, but it is a Lord of War Drama movie that has a very serious undertone to it with a light touch of humor. Nicholas Cage seemed to me that a good performance of this function and everything that makes the world will also carry out his family. Some thought him strong stain the big seller of automobiles, but not ... but the weapons. He also left this disturbing thought in your mind that this is actually happening in the world and how the cold and evil in this world really is. If the slickness of its car-selling tactics had been carefully thought then the score probably would have won a little, but still a great Lord of War film and a real revelation. |
| I went to this DivX film Lord of War with high expectations after some comments on IMDb and other DVD movie Lord of War buffs. I was a little disappointed. This DivX Movie Lord of War is not clear what he wants to be. Is it an intelligent dissection of the arms industry and the moral issues or entertaining crime / gangster in the Lord of War Drama as Pacino Scarface. And unfortunately, neither is between both ends of the spectrum. Nicholas Cage is a great actor but has not given a real performance in years. This Lord of War Drama is no different. And Jared Leto is as irritating as his brother junkie - especially towards the end, when it starts to get a morale attack at the wrong time. The camera work is excellent and although FLITS Ukraine, Manhattan and Africa very well. I do not know if it was shot at the series, but they are very realistic. I will not call this a bad Lord of War movie and it has several interesting ideas and education for some time, but certainly not a classic or a DVD film Lord of War that can be praised as very intelligent. That would give him more credit than he deserves ..... |
| Wow. Splendid. Simply splendid. The film: Lord of War is, as some of you have been calculated on the arms trade. And yet, is not typical of weapons of mass destruction. These are firearms, and all kinds of them. Nicholas Cage begins by saying that there are 550 million weapons in the world, providing one in 12 people in a gun. Next question, how do we give the other 11 weapons as well? Basically this is the main theme of this exciting movie. A disgruntled employee seeks to be the number one global arms dealers, arms sales worldwide (from Africa to Latin America and the Middle East). The Lord of War Drama movie trails Machiavellan his life, which is only to make money no matter what the costs. Witness what happened to his family, people who work with their close calls with various Interpol. Some of the ways we try to rationalize his "career" make you think, but then this is not a film: Lord of War of light that is meant to be seen and forgotten. The performance is excellent. Cage and Ethan make a good combination (combination reminded me of DeNiro and Pacino in "Heat"). Some of the CGI work is pretty good too. The plot and dialogue were simply unbelievable. In the end, does evil prevail? See for yourself. |
| Surprisingly effective black comedy about the arms trade is managed to laugh out loud when a fun and disturbing as hell the next. Yes, the film: Lord of War owes much to Goodfellas, from the decade that covers the history of the constant voice credits. But a good job of sucking and entertaining, at the same time, shows how the arms trade, all without going into too preachy. Nicholas Cage puts in a solid performance as the arms dealer at the center of history. It is not a sympathetic character, but it is so open and bold in their evil-doing, and the cage is so nice on paper, it is hard not to like him. Too often does the cage, either over the top or on a plank of wood, but here is the balance and carries the Lord of War Drama quite isolated, with a constant monologues and more screen time than most rest of the cast combined. Jared Leto is also effective as the troubled younger brother who has the misfortune to develop a consciousness (never a good thing for a corridor of weapons), and Ian Holm has a small cameo as a rival arms dealer. But it is the turn of Eamonn Walker as psychotic African dictator Andre Baptiste who really steals the show. Despite being a "message" movie, Lord of War is also very clever and entertaining. Whether or not you are interested in the politics behind it, is well worth seeing. |
