I saw "Rush Hour" and I am a big fan. I am aware of how Shanghai before noon came after Rush Hour. Therefore, did not give much of a chance. I mean, come on. Typical Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson? But above all, Shanghai Noon, although it is typical of a companion clicee / police DVD film Shanghai Noon or even cowboy / samuri if you like, you get into it. I think it was just in a good mood today. You get your Jackie Chan moves with humor and fun inaccurate history. But I would say just have fun. Sorry, I really can not get to anything else because this is a typical movie. Like a dictionary, look for Rush Hour. Same plot, different time, different actors. I would recommend Rush Hour, Lethal Weapon, or any other partner / police films. You get quite the same thing. As I said, but if you get a kick of those movies, you probably like this too! 7 / 10
Lesser-Spoilers.Despite other negative comments I found this Shanghai Noon film is quite entertaining. I love Jackie Chan movies and this Shanghai Noon Action was just fun to look for me. It has action (action in this superb), wonderful romance (the romance between the princess and especailly Wang), a hard-ass princess of not just another stereo typical, innocent and defenseless fool, an Indian chicken than any cowboy cool Whoop's ass, and finally, Owen Wilson, who looked very good in his cowboy fucking thread (not just looking really good here, but it can also act, and does so well). The relationship between Wang and O'Bannon companion was charming, one of the best in a West commradories I've ever seen. While Owen Wilson is a serious eye candy here, my favorite scene was when Wang believes the Chinese camp and talk to the Princess and she says she can do more for people in America than in China. Any fan can tell you story that the Chinese were treated badly in the west (although the Shanghai Noon Action as her pain caused by one of their own). This DivX Movie Shanghai Noon was a pleasure to watch and I liked the mix of all different cultures. 9 out of 10.
One of the best action films of recent years! Shanghai Noon is a comedy gem. It has decent action, although in truth some of the weakest Chan has done, but the action remains excellent. East meets West in this Wild West festival is to kick things bright and Chan is a partner in his latest crime comedy, Owen Wilson. Whereas the Rush Hour series is over the top and strong screechingly Chris Tucker, Wilson has been established that the back, works great charm whispery. His delivery of lines is fantastic and really plays off Chan excellent. Wilson was sympathetic, while Tucker is the kind of effort that can use thin comedian. The DVD film Shanghai Noon looks very good with a great production design and lush, while the cinematography is excellent musical score by Randy Edelman. The comedy is simple and relates to the delivery and the time instead of producing jokes and that is what we excel in Chan and Wilson. Lucy Lui one of the most naturally beautiful woman ever and add some star eye candies. Overall this is my favorite Chan movie: Shanghai Noon is a perfect combination of Hollywood and the action comedy from Hong Kong. ****
This comedy has unpretentious wooden acting, some very funny and the fight against the great trick of Jackie Chan. This is my first Jackie Chan movie, and I enjoyed them enough to try another - probably the sequel, Shanghai Knights. Inclusion of wordplay is often a reliable indication that a comedy is lame, but they are good wordplay (Shanghai Noon? Chon Wang?) And the comedy is better. The DVD film Shanghai Noon fails to capture the audience during the first 15 or 20 minutes, but then finds its way and becomes more attractive. Many other reviewers commented on the chemistry between Chan and Owen Wilson (who is better than the film: Shanghai Noon progresses), but there is a total lack of chemistry between Chan and Liu. In fact, scenes of passion are the ones between Liu and Lo Fong bad boy (played by Roger Yuan). And Brandon Merrill Sizzler, but nobody in the DivX film Shanghai Noon seems to notice. After about twenty minutes my wife said that "everybody is saying their lines." I lower my rating to act badly, but then gave extra credit to Chan's acrobatic, fight choreography Interactive. The fight scenes are both funny and entertaining. I gave it a 6, 10.
If you are looking for a serious western, see "High Noon." However, if you're looking for a companion mix western image, and ironically a slapstick comedy and martial arts display, this is your movie, Pard'ner. The chemistry between Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson just clicks, and with a nice script that makes fun of the clichés and traditions of the Western genre, "Shanghai Noon" is a very funny movie. Xander Berkeley does a good job as a lawman who is not given to their quarry. Lucy Liu, whom we all know has great talent, seems hampered by its limited role in the script, and I wonder why the writers did not elaborate on his role a little better. All other members of the fair mixture in the western states, which is a great disappointment in the case of Brandon Merrill - I would have liked to see her as more than two lines! "Shanghai Noon" is certainly not the first 'East-meets-West "movie, but in my opinion, is the most fun! I highly recommend it!
