| This is not a great horror, but it is certainly good enough to see, I would like to see again in a minute. Indeed, the territory has been covered before shock and horror with a final twist, but I was not expecting a blast of originality, just a decent DVD movie Dead Birds experience, and I found it. There are the standard horror clichés, where people should not be ignored all the warning signs and act a little stupidly. You've seen before, you'll see it again, and it is here in all its glory - but that does not spoil the film. There are decent special effects, some good moments of shock, and a twist at the end to meet your expectations and keep you from sleeping. Worth a rental if you're in the mood of some of horror and anything else catches your eye. |
| Last night I was at the world premiere of the dead birds at the International Film Festival in Toronto. It was during the midnight madness that relates to gender (Sci-Fi, Horror) films. The director, writer and director were cast in the theater and had a Q & A session after the completion of the photo. Being a fan of Horror, I was definitely waiting for the movie. Special effects, blood, makeup, and CGI were very well done, especially for a low budget film. It also has a nice feel and look to it. The costumes and the premises were effective, as it occurred at the time of the Civil War. I found some parts of the film: Dead Birds a bit slow at times but overall I liked it. Surely they are not very many around horror-West, and this is one of them. |
| The opening scene was nice and I liked the Dead Birds film until it got to the haunted house. I do not mind slow films but this was rubbish. Since that time, the cast get picked off one by one into an entirely predictable and yawn inducing fashion. There are a couple of points where there is an "orchestra hit and some lackey that appears likely to jump on that. Because of this, unfortunately I'm not a real atmosphere of the soundtrack, because it builds up a jump-stop - you in this paternalistic tendency insulting. So with that, walking around the characters of an old age home with a flashlight is not my idea of fun. It is not good, even in a bad way, it was just a loss time looking at being honest. |
| Since the opening of the Dead Birds Thriller to the final part that really felt like I was seeing something I had not seen before. It was a great horror Dead Birds Thriller movie but also made me think of the Area Twilght. The look of the Dead Birds Thriller is beautiful, very dark and brooding. Someone mentioned a Polanski influence, but I see it more as Polanski through early Cronenberg and John Carpenter. Unlike some of the others who have commented here, I liked the fact that the DivX film Dead Birds had its moment of creation events in the house. Which made the far more frightening effective. I'd like to see the DivX film Dead Birds again (I saw at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Toronto) Does anyone know when it will be in theaters? |
| Much better than most things of terror that were thrown our way these days. The premise of an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere is occupied by supernatural forces is hardly a new one, but never mind. What matters is the soundtrack, a good atmosphere and a gradual but effective implementation of events. Yes, the DVD film Dead Birds tends to be a little too slow in the first half, but while there is a feeling that something ominous is interesting will happen is never a problem. The effects are good, the location is good and the dialogue and acting are above-par for a horror film. The creatures do not seem too original, but at least they are not an umpteenth rehash of "Alein" monsters, which I think we can all do without. There are minor problems with how certain characters react in certain situations. The end is interesting: they have become the demons at the time they entered the property? Or is it symbolic of the fact that they were sinners, that is, all the murderers, therefore, automatically demons in a sense? The Civil War is certainly rather unusual setting. |
| In terms of production value, the movie: Dead Birds looks very good. Which is better than most players and horror movies and monsters of the FX are good. It also has a good creepy atmosphere to it and some good scares. The problem is that the script does not really go anywhere after reaching the house ... Its basically a chilling series of scenes where the cast decreases as we move forward, but do not really have a sense of increased tension. The first half worked well, but does not change much, since it goes hand in hand. As we got some background that was not unusual for me, and also very clear that he did not know how to stop it. The order simply does not work at all. My biggest complaint is the soundtrack even though it is too repetitive and it's basically a Ripoff of the Shining soundtrack. Its good if you want to get decent scares, but that will not fly far. |
