| The only thing on the exchange of this Closer movie is its cast. I have seen with my two roommates and the end we were all depressed and confused as to why four excellent actors who never sign up for this movie. When I say depressed, I mean depressed. This has to be one of the most depressing movies I've seen, not necessarily because the subject (although it was depressing), but more because of the four main characters are miserable, and unlike the entire Closer Short film (perhaps smiled Julia Roberts twice in the whole thing). The Closer Short film tried to establish a theme of lying and being lied to, but in the end only ended up being completely predictable and boring. At the end you really do not care who was lying and that he was being lied to, not matter what happened to the characters because they are so unlike all (soft and immoral are the two best words that come to mind). Bland is a perfect word for this movie. Each scene was filmed in a boring, colorless location, with the exception of the strip club scenes, which are really the only salvageable scenes in the entire movie. I realize that this was done for "Shock Value" No shock, but it just made me sick to your stomach so the script was smut. I am sure that people who consider themselves "artistic" will give good reviews because it was "different" and not "mainstream" - but there is a difference between "different" and people take sex as dirty, hurtful thing . Save your money and your time. Go see another DivX film Closer ... any other film. |
| Overwrought. Pretentious. Contributed. What other adjectives can be used to describe this piece of fromage? The story is too florid for my taste and sometimes bordered on the ridiculous. The plot points are unexplained, the writing cumbersome and could not bring myself to sympathize with the characters. Moreover, the actors, whose work tends to admire and enjoy, delivered their lines with the same emotional intensity that could invest in a new pair of socks. Closer to the big issues revolve around the commitment and the violation of trust, which presupposes an emotional investment on our part if the story is to hit its mark. But how are we going to feel any involvement with the DivX film Closer when the actors are totally unlike predators with a penchant for cruelty? | A has nothing to do advertising. The language in the Closer movie is over the top in comparison with almost any DVD film Closer ever seen. However, it is more appropriate for the story. Julia Roberts is exceptional, as usual in this most unusual role for her, with a language that is not for the feint of heart. We loved it.
